Once hazardous materials have been identified, Performance will work with you to provide project oversight and air monitoring during removal and abatement. We can help to establish a budget, prepare bid documentation, identify abatement contractors, and establish a schedule.
Asbestos abatement air monitoring helps to establish the level of airborne asbestos fibers. Background air monitoring determines a baseline of airborne dust levels in the work area before actual abatement begins. During abatement, contiguous air sampling is conducted in adjacent occupied areas, at the entrance to the abatement work area, and at various other locations when needed (e.g. waste load-out, fan rooms, etc.). When abatement activities are completed and a final visual inspection has been successful, clearance air sampling is conducted to verify compliance with regulatory requirements.
Performance can provide OSHA personnel air monitoring to determine 8-hour Time-Weighted Average (TWA) and 30-minute Short-Term Excursion Limit (STEL or EL) exposures.
To provide cost effective air monitoring services, Performance conducts on-site Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) analysis and post daily monitoring results when requested. Air sampling and analysis follow the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) 7400 Method with all microscopists trained in NIOSH 582 requirements or equivalent.
